LA Rams Quarterback Matthew Stafford and Family Join ACFC Investor Group
03.24.23Today, Angel City announced the Los Angeles Rams’ Super Bowl-winning quarterback Matthew Stafford, his wife Kelly, and their four daughters as investors in the team. The announcement comes as ACFC kicks off its second season this Sunday, March 26, at BMO Stadium versus NJ/NY Gotham FC.
"We fell in love with attending an Angel City game last season and wanted our daughters to experience something so important and powerful first-hand," said Matthew and Kelly Stafford. "We have such great respect for the athletes on the field who are playing at the highest level and feel lucky to be able to support such an amazing team in a city that we love so much."
"We are thrilled to have Matthew, Kelly, and their four daughters join the Angel City investor group," said ACFC Co-Founder and President Julie Uhrman. "It makes a huge statement that an LA sports icon and Super Bowl champion Rams quarterback and his family believe in what we are building at Angel City. Kelly is a huge champion of women and, from the moment they attended our Mother’s Day match last year, they have been such great supporters of the club. I’m beyond excited to officially have them join our family.”
The Staffords join several families that have invested in the team, including five-time Pro Bowl lineman Ryan Kalil and family, actress and activist Gabrielle Union and daughter Kaavia James Union Wade, WNBA legend Candace Parker and daughter Lailaa, and founding investors Alexis Ohanian, Serena Williams and daughter Olympia, who at the time of announcement was the youngest professional team owner in sports.
Other ACFC investors from the sports industry include Billie Jean King and Illana Kloss, Cobi Jones, Abby Wambach, Mia Hamm, Julie Foudy, Lindsey Vonn, Candace Parker, PK Subban, and Shawn Johnson East.
