Angel City is not just another football club.

We are building a different type of organization—where mission and capital come together.

Where you can feel our impact, on and off the field. We were born on the streets of Los Angeles and stand side by side with our community. Football is our passion and the vehicle we use to speak to our community. Our purpose is to set higher expectations, and it guides us to strive for better in everything we do.

About Angel City FC

Angel City FC’s story starts in July 2020, when the club announced that it would take the field in 2022 as the newest team in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). With an ownership group led by actor and activist Natalie Portman, technology venture capitalist Kara Nortman, media and gaming entrepreneur Julie Uhrman, and tech entrepreneur and venture capitalist Alexis Ohanian.

Led by Head Coach Freya Coombe, Angel City finished its inaugural 2022 season with the second-best on-field record of any expansion team in NWSL history. It sold out four home games and averaged a league-leading 19,105 fans per game.

ACFC isn’t just another football club; it’s a mission-driven organization with impact built into its business structure. Under the club’s unique sponsorship model, 10% of each corporate partner’s contribution goes to a community organization. Since its inception, the club has been forming deep roots in the LA community through its outreach and impact work, which includes initiatives in education, food security, sports equity, LGBTQ+ and gender equality, and more.

In 2022, the club played two unique friendly matches, one against the Liga MX Femenil club Tigres UANL, and one against the Mexico Women’s National Team. Both matches were celebrations of LA’s Mexican roots and the rich Latinx culture that shapes the city.

Angel City’s supporters are a key part of the club’s success and the gameday experience. Six supporter groups filled the stadium’s north end, chanting and drumming for the duration of each game and creating an atmosphere rivaling any in American sports.
